Also along the Willamette River, which cuts through the center of the city, there's an esplanade on both sides that's great for riding and people watching.

Do have a lot of wind to deal with where you ride?
I've never been lost but I have been a powerful mite confused for several long peroids of time during my life.

Sometimes. There's a very good reason that the Columbia is a great place to go windsurfing! Smile If it's too windy, I don't go out. I'm just a wimp that way.

Nice pictures. I guess we all can agree that biking isn't all pedal pedal pedal, part of it is taking in the scenery fresh air and relaxation or what ever makes you feel comfortable and free. I don't think I have any of the Grand Canyon of the East but I will check. It is about 2hrs away. Yes I am in NY! Big Grin
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

I do a selection of both on and off road rides.

I Live in Surrey, UK, for those that don't know it's SW london way, it's very leafy, very rural, loads of parks and some awesome nature trials.

Last year in the height of summer I went on a mad ride out, I was in that mood so went through a few parks, then onto a few busy shopping towns, well be rude not to look at the ladies in very little summer clothing and went on up into London and up to picadilly circus.

London is on the River Thames so I cycled back via the tow paths along the river, admiring the boats and stuff and stopped off for a beer as the sun was setting over the river.

I left my house just after lunch so must have been about 1pm and I got home about 8pm, was an awesome way to spend a day and I can't wait for the english summer to finally get here this year.

I'm from Boston area, I commute to work and school about 8 miles each way. I've learned to deal, but I prefer to ride out of the city. Up to Stoneham and Concord, Harvard, MA.

I'm only riding the Rails to Trails in west central fl. for now but as soon as I sell the Trek 7000 I may seek new horizons, maybe a Trek 4500.

Minnesota, what can I say. Favorite place to ride is the Mesabi trail in northern Minnesota. Lots of iron range history and spectacular scenery.

If any of you ever get the chance, Hailes Trails in Newberry/Gainesville are awesome. They are privately owned and only open for two races a year. This year's first one is Oct 2-3. The race is the 3rd and the preview is on the 2nd.

Being new to the forum, I get to post a bit late. I live just outside of Tampa, FL. on a road (Morris Bridge Rd) that has 6 inter-connected county and state parks that make up the Lower Hillsborough Preserve. It is a bicyclist's paradise. All of the parks have off-road trails that connect them together and has a total of 30 or so miles of trails. In fact, on the photo that I posted of my Defy, you will notice on the other side of the hedge, a dirt trail. That is actually a firebreak for one of the parks in this group (Trout Creek Park). If I did MTB, all I would have to do is put my bike on the other side of the fence and off I go.

However, since I do road biking, I am not without a place to ride. One of these parks, Flatwoods (about three miles from my house) has a seven mile paved loop with a one mile paved service road at one entrance and a two mile paved service road at the other. Also, Morris Bridge Rd has a very nice bike path on each side that runs from the University of South Florida (about 6 miles to the west of me) into the next county and probably goes for 60 or so miles. Our county also has some very nice off-road trail parks in the south area and has two paved trails that connect between two other counties to the north of us. I think the total miles for Upper Tampa Trail and the Sun Coast Trail is 70 miles.

Here is a link to the area I live in: Lower Hillsborough Preserve

So originally I'm from sacramento, California where I enjoyed going to El Dorado Hills during the late spring to mountain bike and then hit up the ski resorts during the summer for some downhill mountain biking.

Since then I've moved over to Hawaii for school and continue to mountain bike on many of the multi-use trials along the "mountains" (not really much of a mountain). I also ride on the road with my mountain bike around north shore Oahu which is always a good ride with the wind at your back one way and against you the other way.

I love riding here in New Zealand. We are spoilt really. My fav spot so far for all out fin has to be Rotorura. For adventure i'd say the Craigieburn. I do miss UK riding though...it has it's own special vibe to it.

One day i'll ride BC Canada!!!
