Rim brake pads wear [Solved]

Ciao.
How can you tell that the rim brake pads are worn out and you need to change them? Or when is the right time to replace these brake pads?

pic would be nice, but normally there are grooves in them to help gauge. Nice to know what they looked like new . or they can be replaced if they are hardened or dry whether worn or not.
