Receive post notifications
#1
Hi, bike riders!

These days notifications are an inevitable part of our daily lives. Content and information is overflowing, and sometimes we miss relevant messages or news. Therefore we offer BikeRide forum members multiple options for receiving notifications. Would you like to avoid tens of emails? No worries, we will send all notifications on the forum as a private message (PM).

▶ Follow sections ▶
Are you a fan of vintage road bikes, while there is nothing interesting about professional road cycling? Or vice versa? Forum members can always subscribe to separate sections of BikeRide forum. As a result, we will send an automatic notification to your email informing about new threads from other forum members. Be first in line to solve a bike repair issue or comment!

You can subscribe/unsubscribe to separate sections at any time by clicking 'Subscribe to this forum' (when being in the desired section) as seen in the photo below. Notification will be sent as a brief note via email.

▶ Follow your thread ▶
When you are ready to create a new thread in order to ask questions or encourage others to discuss specific subjects, don't forget to tailor thread subscription options. Scroll under the message box to choose between four options:

- no subscription
- subscribe without receiving notifications for new replies
- subscribe & receive email notifications for new replies
- subscribe & receive PM notifications for new replies

▶ Follow your replies on other threads ▶
The same notification pattern applies when following other threads. However, you are not able to follow other threads if you haven't made a post/reply yourself. When you are ready to make a reply, four options will appear as displayed in the photo above.

It took a lot of searching but I finally found the help forum. Perhaps for us newbies you could put the help forum on top of the list? I have been struggling for a while just to find my own threads. I hadn't noticed the Subscribe options when I started posting and it's been frustratingly difficult. May I suggest that, somewhere on a members home page or profile page (I'm not clear on whether there is a homepage) that you add a "my threads" link with which a member could simply go to their own posted threads? Other forums I am on all have this function so it can't be that hard to set up.

Hello burrobabe,

See if the following helps..

1. Bike Forums > My Profile
2. Scroll down to Miscellaneous
3. Account Summary : Shows the 'Threads you have sSubscribed to" AND " Your Latest Threads"..

It's a bit convoluted but will bring you to what you are "probably" looking for.

Please let me know if any difficulty.

@Burrobabe I do get the notification for private messages, but I do not "Subscribe" to threads since you will get a notification about every little post for each thread which I do not care sift through in my emails. You should be able to activate notifications for any specific thread whether it is yours or someone elses.
