Suggestions for Maintenance Manual?
#1
Hey,

I've been doing minor repairs on my bike for about 2 years now, on and off.

I used to just guesstimate where the problem was and just take it apart to see if i could see what was the matter, this wasn't the wisest idea in the world, seeing as i'd end up with an unrideable bike until i could figure out how to stick it back together and make it stay. These pages have helped gangbusters for me, but what would be great would be if i could get ahold of a decent repair guide or maintenance manual for when i don't have a computer around.

Any suggestions?

As far as what I've been doing, I've just been printing out the notes that have been underneath the videos on this site, if it seems too complex to do by simply watching the video the first time out...there's other sites too like Sheldon Brown's. And there are many books out there too of varying qualities...you'll get suggestions depending on the person more than likely... Perhaps the most consistent recommendation I've read about is this one.
I don't know if that's what you've been looking for, but hopefully it will help some.

Why is it that they make adult bikes that'll generally work for 5'9" or above, yet when you pedal these same bikes they only work for someone who is 5'4" or so?

G'day

I am a big fan of Lennard Zinns books and have a copy of his mountain bike repair manual (handy for mountain bikes and my flatbar). I also have the Park Tools Big Blue book which is good. Park Tools also have videos along the lines of what Alex does here.
