Diamondback Yard sale find.
#1
Picked this one up for $30 at yard sale. It's a Diamondback Insight 1. Definitely a mess but looks like mostly a cleaning job. Needs new cables and brake pads. wheels are still true. They are a mess but salvageable. Crank feels good and solid. Has acera 7 speed on it with thumbies at this point. Will probably keep that on it if they work well. They seem to be ok. Gotta love the horn!

Took it apart last night and what a mess! I don't know what the guy used to lube this bike but it is like glue! picked up every piece of grass dirt and gunk it ever ran over! The good news is it is cleaning up real good.Bad is I don't know if I will ever get this crap off my hands!LOL Did find 1 problem. Looks like the adjuster on the shifter got broken and they did a epoxy repair(rig). Looking at it I may be able to drill it out and tap it for a generic adjuster. Gotta love the horn

Gonna put some combo tires on it and give it to a guy at church who wants to ride and has little means. He is a good guy and would be a good riding partner!

You would think so! Maybe it was to keep him awake. It seems to be cleaning up real nice. Gonna hit a couple spots with some compound but looks pretty good already. Wheels are going to take a little bit of work but they look ok. Gonna ckeck the shifter and see if I can get the broken adjuster piece out if not I will get a new one.I think it will be a cool project especially since it's for a good guy!
