Deore LX Derailleurs?
#1
I have two Deore LX derailleurs... one is a RD550 and the other is a RD565.
Which one is a better derailleur or is there a better one?? Any differences between the two other than the model number?? Both have the SGS long cage.
Trying to figure out the Shimano numbers and quality grades.
Thanks

The difference between them are the years produced. the m550 is the earlier one and would most resemble the older deoreII and XT, and MOuntainLX 6/7 speed.
the m565 would be the next Gen for 7/8 speed, doing away with the polished alloy, going all black. and rapidfire shifters, the m550 would have been matched with top mount thunbies or push push sti shifters. They are both fine Derailleurs. the m550 would be pre 1993 and the m565 mid 90's
