Vintage IBIS tandem for sale
#1
Vintage Ibis tandem.

Scot Nicol; founder of Ibis, confirmed that this is an early Ibis tandem.

Ibis tandems were designed to be equally at home off road and on road. There is plenty of room for 2+ inch wide tires for off road, beach cruiser tires or narrower high pressure road tires. The bike is light and stiff.

It has:
* a light but very strong cr-mo (chrome-molybdenum) steel alloy frame.
* Sansin high flange sealed bearing 36H hubs front and rear; with Q/R on the front, B/O on the rear.
* Wheelsmith SS14 spokes
* Mavic rims 519 on the front (too new to be original; first shows in the 2000 Mavic catalog) and M261 on the rear (likely original, last shown in the 1995 Mavic catalog)
* rear wheel assembled by Wheelsmith.
* front wheel by The Bicycle Outfitter.
* Salsa brake bridges/braces front and rear. (not original)
* Avid 2.0 linear pull brakes front and rear (not original)
* Sugino crank sets.
* 54T/44T/24T triple
* Shimano Durace MF 7400 7 speed freewheel.
* Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur
* Shimano XTR front derailleur.
* SRAM MXR grip shifters (not original)
* Continental Town & Country tires 47-559 (26 x 1.95) (not original)

This tandem is one of the early ones made by Ibis - a part of the history of the company.
