I m a newbie. This is an old bike but still functional. Where can I get detailed info on what kinds of components, like the specs of tires and wheels, to upgrade my bike?

what to do you want to do with the bike? downhill, desert, mud, climb mountain trails, commute?

Does your bike look like this?
