New cassette & chain, now getting vibrations in pedals
#1
This weekend I just replaced my chain and 7 speed cassette as they were both quite worn out. Everything seemed to go OK, but now I'm noticing a vibration in my pedals, but only when I'm pedaling.

I was wondering if maybe something is slightly different with the alignment of this cassette vs my old one , and now the chain is rubbing somewhere? Or maybe my chain rings are worn and the new chain might be rubbing on them?

Any ideas?

Thanks Smile

For sure, take a look at your chainrings...

Also be sure that your pedals are completely screwed in the crankarms

Bob. You said "For sure". Are you kin to Pat Travers or Tom Petty?

Guy2 - Road bike? Mtn bike? Maybe even some other big-time info?

Is it the same vibration in every gear? Are one or more different?

Is it an indexed rear derailleur or friction shift?

On an indexed unit; I had a Shimano 14-28 freewheel that I could tune to run smooth in 1,2,3,4,6,7 but not in 5th; OR in 5th and not the other gears. Measured the ____ thing, and found the the 4-5 spacing was a bit narrow and the 5-6 spacing a bit wide. Haven't purchased Shimano freewheels or cassettes since - SRAM and DNP cassettes and Sunrace freewheels - all have proven to be good for me Smile

Also; your chain ring could be worn.
