Front derailleur springs back
#1
today i went off a drop. i have a very old bike. the chain popped off. after i put it back on i noticed that when i put it back on the big gear the front derailleur would spring back to lower gear (it has two front gears). the derailleur springs back no matter what. is there any way to fix this?

sounds like the cable is no longer attached to the derailleur; or may be no longer attached to the shifter.
