Replacement cones rear Shimano FH-RM40
#1
Took rear hub apart today and noticed pitting in L and R cones, so am trying to order replacement cones online in the US. I have found several online sources that stock the L cone, but cannot find the R cone except in Europe. Shimano's Tech Document for my hub (FH-RM40) lists a separate part number for the L and R side, although they look identical.

Has anyone out there encountered this issue? Could I get by with using the readily available L side cone for both sides? Any suggestions are welcome.

Given the price of the parts, I'd try it.

Or just give Niagara a call http://www.niagaracycle.com/contact_us.php and ask.

After posting my comment, I took axle apart again and measured with micrometer the size of both R and L cones. They are identical, so will use two of the L cones from bikeparts.com. Leaves me wondering why Shimano used two part numbers for each cone?

Update: I ended up ordering from Niagara Cycle Works (thanks Nfmisso), saving some $ in the process.
