Some advice needed if anyone can help. I have an Allez (2005ish) which runs tiagra 8spd cassette (12-25) and derailleur and a 39/52 chainset. I have sora flightdeck changers. All the above have had a bit of use and also it's quite hilly where I ride.

Was thinking of getting a 11-28 10spd shimano 105 5700 and same derailleur but does this mean I'll need a new changer as well? Even secondhand that puts the price to far more than I paid for the bike!

Thanks to all that reply!

You'll have to change the shifter as well, since 8 and 10 spd doesn't match...
Only 105, Ultegra and 105 are 10spd, Tiagra is 8 or 9 spd (depends of what year they are)

You would also need a 10 speed chain if you go to 10 speed, then this might give a problem with the chainset?

I run a Sora rear dérailleur on a 13-28 (it was a 13-26 but I swapped the two largest sprockets for 24 & 28 ones).
You can get an 8 speed 11-28 cassette but adjustment of the "B" screw may be needed.
Ride hard or ride home alone!

I did think about another 8-spd, but with tired legs I find I need a closer ratios to keep spinning!! Maybe I should man-up though!?
