Hello! I have a 2010 Specialized Allez Sport Triple bike and I would like to upgrade to an Ultegra groupset. I am super confused with the different options for derailleur (SS Cage or GS cage/Long cage) and cassette (11-25 or 11-30). If anyone has any input or can help it would be greatly appreciated.
This is the bike:
Specialized Allez Sport Triple
This is the groupset I would like to buy:
Ultegra R8000
Ride: Specialized Allez Sport Triple
Location: Northern Florida, USA

Steev from BikeRide community shared a comment via Facebook:
"A longer cage mech takes up the slack in the longer chain needed to run a larger rear cassette. If you want to use an 11-30 on the rear (I.e. if you want easier gears for climbing) you’ll need the long cage mech."
What Nicholas quoted is correct. If you are not changing gear ratios, but merely upgrading to Ultegra parts you can use the same derailleur cage style/length in the Ultegra group as you presently use now.
