Chain jammed behind gear block
#1
Idiot that I am, I tried to change into a lower gear that wasn't there and the chain came off the block and several links are now wedged between the block and the spokes.

I'm guessing my best bet is to loosen/remove the block but I don't have the right tools. Any other suggestions or should I just get the tools?

Cheers,

Jamie.

If it is that bad and you cannot get the chain out, the spokes will be damaged and have to be replaced. So you have to remove the cassette or freewheel anyway...
Replacing spokes one at a time is not too difficult. If you're not comfortable with that, let a bike shop do it (though a new rear wheel might be cheaper).

Thanks, good advice.

so lucky, an excuse to buy new tools!while the block is off, i recommend installing a chain protector. cheap an easy. definitely readjust your derailer, the limit screws are easy to do.
Get on your bad pedalscooter and ride!
