I'd try handwash paste or toothpaste (and not use white handlebar tape, even if it looks good, had bright yellow on my old bike, looked grimy all the time)

I asked this same question at the LBS where I bought my bike (white frame, white saddle, white bar tape...what was I thinking??). The solution to white bar tape? Black bar tape.
 I've cleaned mine with liquid dish soap in some water, and it came out pretty clean. In the long run, I suspect that I'll replace it, but the bike is new (got it in March), so I'm not ready to make changes yet. |
