Looking for an electric bike for someone who is 5 ft 4
#1
Can anyone recommend an electric bike in the $1,500 price range? I am 5'4 and some of the bikes say if you're under 5 ft 9 you won't fit. Thank you

BACKGROUND: I have two Rad ebikes, and both are too large for my barely 5'3/140lb frame. Both are step thrus. One is a Rad City V3 and the other is a Rad Rover ST V6. I ordered the City after I found the Rover too big but I never sold it (don't ask). I was finally able to get the handlebars and seat adjusted for a safe ride on the Rover6 but I am selling both because of the weight. They weigh 65-70 lbs and when you're small, it's a lot of weight to manage. They both have 26" tires. So I have pre-ordered a brand new model from Urtopia, called the Joy. It's $1700 so a bit over your price tag but worth looking at. It's a ST and designed for smaller riders and has 20" tires. Lots of muscle but weight is around 50 lbs due to carbon fiber body (much lighter). Had trouble finding one in stock in FL because they are brand new. Has 750 motor and will go 28mph. Front suspension which i found important for comfort on bumps. Another option to look at is the Velotric foldable bike (that's my second choice). Because i have spent so much on failures, i did a lot of research this time. Hope this helps you. The Velotric has another model which is very light (I got to ride it around the lot) with 26" tires and it was very impressive except no front suspension, so the ride was stiff. Go to a shop and actually ride one of these and don't repeat my mistake of just having a bike drop-shipped and being disappointed. Also, i've now owned both bikes with 3" and 2-1/4" tires. Go with the fat tires! more stable on uneven surfaces. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. My "Joy" should be here next week so i'll post again after test riding it.

At 5'4", you'll want to look for bikes with step-through frames, adjustable seat posts, and smaller wheel sizes (like 20" or 24") for better comfort and control. Aventon Soltera 2.5 is a good choice.

Yeah, nonsense claims about rider fit are a big problem with Chinese e-bikes, which is probably all you're going to find in that price range. Oddly, perhaps, even the relatively pricey e-bikes from the Netherlands would be a problem, as the Dutch are the tallest people on the planet.

You could look through this list of BikeRide reviews and keep an eye out for confirmation by reviewers that the stated fit range is both realistic and suited to smaller riders.
