Noise from chain/bottom bracket
#1
My bike makes a rattling noise only when the gears are set to a higher speed. Every time I pedal when setting the resistance in pedaling there comes noise from either the chain or from the chain touching the bottom bracket. Not sure what the problem is but I do have a pretty good idea of how it got started...I think its when I forced the pedals to turn while giving the bike a chain bath. While having the chain set in the chain bath devise as I turn the pedals, the chain fell off the crank so many times I ended up force turning the pedals hoping that chain would self correct itself by hopping back onto the crank. What is the problem? And how much would this cost to get fixed?

You should carefully set up the shifters / dérailleurs. Look at the videos, they help a lot. Take your time, don't rush it.

Along with what Joe said also check to make sure there are no stiff links in the chain, bent chain rings on the front, or bent crank spindle.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!
