Rear Tricycle Wheels, Slotted Axle?
#1
I recently found this old adult tricycle and thought I'd fix it up for fun in my spare time. It would be pretty easy except for the missing back wheels...

The rear axles on this thing are unfamiliar to me and apparently to everyone else in my area. I've gone to three bike shops and no one has ever seen anything like these before. I'm pretty much up a creek without a paddle at this point. I though I would ask for some help here to see if anyone had any idea where I could get wheels that would fit this axle, or even point me in the right direction.

From what it looks like to me, the rear axle has a slot running along it. Id guess that I'm looking for a hub that would have some sort of tab sticking out of it so it would lock in place.

Thanks for the help.

That almost looks like a schwinn town and country! Email the photos to schwinn and see what they say
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Hi Drew;

The slots are for a key; there will be a matching slot in the wheel hub. Like these: http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-keys/=90wpui

I would suggest looking wheelbarrow wheels or similar industrial applications, rather than bicycle wheels.
