What kind of brakes are these?

I have a bmx bike, a Hyper Icon that has these caliper style brakes that actually fit on pivot bosses. I haven't seen this type before, but need to find a set of rears for the bike. There is a center pull hook on the back brake cable as it comes thru the seat post, but I assume it is basically the same style as the front ones that I need (rear brakes were missing when I got this bike).

Hey blade! Smile
Those are put on some of the Department store bikes. I do believe these are the ones used .... http://www.amazon.com/Bulletproof-U-Brake-Front-Bicycle-Caliper/dp/B000AO9W9Q/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1274911264&sr=8-9 . Alex's GT shown here http://forums.bikeride.com/thread-35.html uses the same I believe. Hopefully he can comment on this. The only difference is that his is on the Seat Stays (tubes) instead of the chain stays (tubes). Like I said I am not 100% positive but I am thinking it is correct.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Hi all!

Yes, those are the same type of brakes I have on my BMX (u-brakes). I have these on my MTB too but just haven't done a video on them yet. Sheldon's got some info on them here http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_u-v.html#ubrake and there may be some other good links I can't think of at the moment.

Thanks guys, just what I needed... a name to put on them... lol. I'm guessing the rear version has a small cable going across that the hook catches on to?

I am looking at a "set" of u brakes on amazon... not sure if they are fronts or rears, do these brakes ship to be rigged either way?

Any of these would work front or rear:
