Hoping someone can help me identify this Peugeot bike !

I recently Purchased this vintage bike for $75 but I’m not sure what the year or model is and I’m hoping someone can help me identify it.

I think it is 1977 per the dropout stamp. Model number should start with a P + another letter and two #s, and should be stamped on the bottom of the crank shell/bottom bracket.
You paid about the max value for that bike; $100 is too much. Sport type model at the low end of Peugeot's range for the time. My 79-80 Peugot only cost $200 brand new and it had all alloy parts so that model was probably not much over $100 brand new the mid-70s and those bikes do not gain value.

Perfect bike for your use; it should fit some fairly wide tires if needed, a better saddle is not expensive either.. French parts may be an issue when servicing both in availability and cost. Look for used stuff to fix it up (craigslist).

the year of 77 is the earliest, it could be as late as 79 which is the 3-year period that the Y was used. The 708 tells us that it was larger production run model and was found on UO-8, UE-8, and AO-8; the other numbers are just series numbers, which is not year consistent. Peugeot’s serial numbers in the 1970s were not date‑coded and the unit counter always restarted with each new production batch, so 77, or 78, or 79 all had one bike with that same 00380 number.

The Y also tells us it is an entry level bike, the "junk" models of the Y series was the UO-8, these were carried by big box stores of the time, you can tell if yours is one of those if there is a model name of either Record or Sport. But those had single pivot brakes, yours does not have those, they have center pull instead, so those things all tell us you don't have the bottom tier you have the entry level tier. That bike appears to be in pretty good condition, as long as you maintain it, it should run a long time. Keep in mind that older bikes do need more frequent maintenance, not only due to not using sealed bearings but also just because of age. This is true with any mechanical device, bikes, motorcycles, cars, turntables, you name it, the older it gets the more love you have to give it to keep it running at their best.
