Hi guys, I'm Mark, a 64 year old and getting back into cycling after a long lay off. Use to compete in track and Triathlon back in day. Living in mid Wales and just ordered a spanking new Ribble ebike.

Hi Mark, and welcome to the community.
I would be very interested to hear your feedback regarding the performance of your Ribble. We need more first hand accounts by owners regarding ebikes with so many different brands flooding the market.

Congrats on your new purchase. I hope everything arrives in top shape.
I see in your other thread you got a gravel model. That's great! It doesn't look like the motor is in the hub, but like most ebikes, the motor is in the bottom bracket. Thus, you can get any wheelset matching the size your bike is stocked with and it should swap out effortlessly. Not using the throttle will be the only option you have for tuning out pedal assistance. It should be common sense to make sure the cassette speed on your new wheelset matches the speed your bike is stocked with, but just for coherence, I think it's good to mention this.

@ReapThaWhirlwind Rear hub motor. But why bother inquiring from the owner what design the bike utilizes or spending time to research it before making a senseless statement based on ignorance and not knowledge.
"ReapthaFOULwind" (for future reference referred to as "they"/"them" in deference to any gender/sexual preference identity issues) states many things, but they has never provided any inclination as to having any formal training and/or professional background in providing they opinion. They is one reason for myself (and others from what I've been told) leaving this site. I appreciate those with the actual knowledge, experience, and/or those admitting that they are only providing an opinion and not necessarily actual knowledge or experience; nothing wrong if you warn others before providing potentially harmful advice and letting others know in advance that they need to take said advice with a grain of salt when making their decisions based on another's opinion.
Cycling is dangerous enough without adding medical, mechanical, nutritional, etc. advice issues into the mix without some level of accountability and responsibility by those providing their comments. Just because you ride a blue bike does not mean it is the same as everyone else's blue bikes; nor is your body the same as others. What is okay for you could be deadly for another. Free peanuts to everyone; eat them now. I eat peanuts, peanut butter, and many peanut products. Great nutritional value! No danger; everyone eat peanuts! They do not hurt me so they will not hurt you! Peanut allergies are lies spread by those against the peanut industry.
