Rear Shifting Not Working
#1
I bought a new gravel bike last week and noticed that the shifting seemed to jump around in the higher gears. I watched a park tool video on how to adjust the rear derailleur and adjusted the limit screws and indexing it seemed that everything was working normal. Just went on a quick ride on my trainer, didn't notice any problems with the shifting, then when I took the bike off and put the rear wheel back on I tried to test the shifting again and I clicked the rear shifter a few times and then it seemed to just stop working. The chain was stuck on the 2nd or 3rd smallest cog while I was clicking the shifter both ways and the shifter would click when going downwards in gear but wouldn't change the gear the chain was on at all, and while trying to shift up it didn't even click in the shifter at all. I know I probably messed something up when adjusting the rear derailleur, if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this that'd be great, otherwise I can take it in to the shop I bought it from to get it looked at for free but they are a few hours away. Thanks!

Hi Levi,

Welcome, sorry you didn't get any quick replies with insight towards solving your problem. I would personally have brought to back to the shop if you couldn't readily fix the problem. Make sure the mechanic test rides it and then you test ride it before leaving the shop. Any adjustments should able to be done quickly unless something was damaged or defective.
