I joined one week ago. So far it has been a very informed resource. Thank You so very much.
I haven't riden a bicycle for 20 years. LOL
I purchased a trike, for adults. I am doing my own assembly. I have inspected the whole frame and there isn't any number anywhere on the frame (for ID purposes). I live in the city, where bicycle thefts are high. So my question is, should I add some unique ID numbers to the bottom of axle?

An engraver: http://www.harborfreight.com/electric-engraver-46099.html#.UydrkIWGfAw

But even if you mark it, recovery is highly unlikely. A better approach is to make yours harder to take than other ones visible. A Kryptonite NY http://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-180111-Yellow-Shackle-U-Lock/dp/B001DWNK1A/ is very effective in that regard. We carry two plus a 6ft long ½" cable on our tandem when we plan to leave it unattended. Both wheels are locked to the frame, and one is locked to an immovable object. It would take to long for the thief to cut through enough to move the bike.

Hi Nigel
Thank you for all info.
I had planned on those D locks on all three wheels. plus a heavy cable to tie to a unmovable object.

Use a U lock to attach it to an unmovable object - the good ones like the Kryptonite model I linked to above are harder to cut than heavy cables.

Merely locking a trike is probably enough, considering it's not much of a target and a bit difficult to pick up and toss in a truck.

Welcome to this group!
When I joined this website, I had just purchased a Tricycle kit. Had not even considered assembling this kind of thing.
I have it up and rolling down the street. Love it.
I am also going to put an electic motor on my trike.

I've just returned to the 'cycling' world after taking a break of about 30 years, so I'm really new to all the current products and lingo. I also just joined this forum today, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone's input concerning all the different subjects available for discussion. I'm looking forward to learning as much as possible using this fantastic resource; thanks again!
