I have a 24 speed bike that I ride in the middle ring almost all of the time. When I get to the second highest (second smallest) gear in my rear cluster the rear derailleur hits the chain slightly and when I go to the highest (smallest) gear it rubs a lot. Is this something to be concerned about and if so how do I fix this. The bike seems to shift gears just fine.
sounds like the FD needs to be adjusted some. Is this a new bike or one you had
Have fun and just enjoy the ride
most FD need a little tweaking on the shifter as you go from the largest cog at the rear to the smallest.

I got it last Christmas. Have approx. 1200 miles on it now.
Do you know a good site for FD adjustment instructions?
how about some pics of what you have and the shifters, front derailleur and so on. Model#'s of each may also be helpful.

I have Shimano 2300 shifters and derailleurs.
The 2303 FD is pretty narrow, and needs to be trimmed as you go across the cogs at the back. The shifter has trimming.
