Bicycle Songs
#21
Not bicycle-song related but, driving me insane...
ZZ Top did an awesome job of covering Elvis Presley's song 'Jailhouse Rock' on the Fandango album.
If you get on Youtube and look at any ZZ tune list, though, over on the right-hand column, you will (everytime) see a link to Elvis' "You Were Always On My Mind" and no Jailhouse Rock link. I am lost as to how ZZ links to Elvis through that song. ZZ Top probably had their Ballad Hit with 'Blue Jean Blues' or 'My Head's In Mississippi' . How does ZZ connect with Always On My Mind? I love Elvis and ZZ both and have been playing Guitar, Bass and Harmonica for almost 40 years. Why is Always On My Mind not linked to Willie Nelson? My brain hurts but my quads feel fine! Smile

". . .excuse me while I kiss the sky . . ." (Jimi Hendrix) Nope.

" . . . But don't ask what I think of you. You might not get the answer that you me to . . ." (early Fleetwood Mac) Not this one.

"Oh Blackwater, keep on rollin' . . . " (Doobie Brothers) Nope.

"You go back, Jack, do it again, wheels turning' 'round and 'round . . . " (Steely Dan) Good song but nope.

Nope none of those are bicycle songs, sorry. Smile

What was the name of that band you quoted again?

Steve

Disagree, all good bicycle songs

When I was young I never imagined Floyd would be elevator music but sure enough I heard it the other day. Can you imagine P-diddy playing in an elevator of the future? Smile

The Grammys were last night. I only watched long enough to see a group performing an old Aretha Franklin tune from the 1960s. See, they can't come up with anything original that's any good.

Just call me Pharaoh Goo Goo (out ranks Lady Ga Ga)
aka Steve

PS: Sorta reminds me of King Crimson now that I think about it.

Got me laughing out loud in a public venue. Ok had a micro brew first.

I roller-skated to your door at daylight
It almost seems like you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

I ride my bike, I roller skate don't drive no car
Don't go too fast, but I go pretty far
For somebody who don't drive
I been all around the world
Some people say, I done all right for a girl

I asked your mother if you were at home
She said yes but you weren't alone
Oh, sometimes I think that you're avoiding me
I'm okay alone, but you got something I need

Well, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key
I think that we should get together
And try them out to see
La, la, la, la, la, la La, la, la, la, la
Oh, I got a brand new pair of roller skates
You got a brand new key

used to sing this as a young young girl but we only had AM radio so never knew who sang it! can still sing it in the same accent as the singer...

I am on a lonely road and I am travelling, travelling, travelling
Looking for something, what can it be?
Ooh the jealousy, the greed is the unraveling,
It's the unraveling
And it undoes all the joy that could be

I want to have fun, want to shine like the sun
Want to be the one that you want to see
Want to knit you a sweater, write you a love letter
Make you feel better, let you feel...
Free...

Sung from a bicycle for miles to my first real love. Anybody recall Joni Mitchell? And this was years after the song was on the radio, by the way.......aaaaaahhhh sweet memories.

Who started this thread anyway? Great idea....
