Shimano law suit
#1
Remember the Shimano law suit?
Fortunately I had the"good model series"
Thousands of riders trusted these components without a second thought. Now, the story has taken a serious turn.

Shimano has agreed to pay an $11.5 million penalty after US regulators found the company failed to report a major defect in its 11 speed road cranksets on time. According to the CPSC, Shimano had received thousands of warranty claims over nearly a decade, along with reports of serious injuries including fractures, joint displacements and deep cuts.

The issue? A structural failure inside the crankset. In many cases, the bonding between the two halves could separate, leading to sudden and dangerous breakage mid ride.

Back in 2023, more than 2.8 million cranksets were recalled worldwide for inspection and replacement. But regulators say the warning should have come much earlier.

Now, Shimano must also submit yearly reports to prove it is improving safety controls and internal processes.

This is not just a fine.

It is a reminder that even the most trusted gear can fail and when it does, timing matters.

how was the replacement done in your country Robert? A lot of people got dismayed with how it was handled here in the Philippines because the main distributor had a few shops only and most were concentrated in the country's capital , the sad part is were a nation consisted of 7107 islands separated by water and great distances so logistics would prove to be a challenge, a lot of the people who wanted a replacement crank couldn't get to the capital due to the distance sadly

11 million is a drop in the bucket for Shimano, lawl

You would expect something in the billions for this kind of damage.

I still suspect foul play at hand, especially considering a scamwave.

But, the real details could go even deeper, and act as a provocateur element from internal Japan.
