Vintage Multi tool

    Hi Folks from a very snowy Aberdeen, thank you for letting me join. I have attached a picture of a simple multi tool I picked up with a job lot of bikes/spares can anyone give me info please, date etc 5 1/2 inches long has a screwdriver, tyre lever multi nut spanner and a patch holder ? thanks Les

I believe it is a 1950s-60s tool; but not 100% certain. I have (somewhere!) a similar tool with the "jaw" spanner that I have had from the mid '60s, but I think it is older than that. Mine is not bike specific and is only about 3"-3.5" long, flat, & chromed, and had a little plastic sleeve. I believe mine is called "Pocketool" or "Pocket Tool" brand. I'll ask around on a vintage site and see if it is familiar to someone.

I assume it has no markings other than "PATENT".

@Tickettyboo Are you in Scotland? I dod not want to make any assumptions since there are numerous towns named Aberdeen in the USA.

Most likely the tool is regional in manufacture so probably a UK maker in you are on that side of the pond.

Thanks for the info. Given your location it is very possible that the tool is for use on a scooter or moped. Those vehicles really did not exist in any great number in the States until the 70s and later (mostly Vespas). The jaw of the wrench seems substantially larger than what would be needed for a bicycle. Just a guess.
