Greed factor comes into play with retailers. Proven facts is that profit realized comes faster by selling at smaller profit and moving higher volume. You also get return customers..I believe that's called a successful business.

This is true. Lower prices mean more foot traffic to spend money in the bike shop. More traffic mean more spur of the moment buying.
