OK....I see a rabbit and I gotta chase him down that hole!!!!...........so.....here's something about me and my wants.
I came here do explore the world of ebikes. Have not yet ridden any ebike but I'm this >I I< close to retirement and I've gotta have one. (Much to the chagrin of SWMBO)
I will be riding......
NW Denver metro area.....the 'burbs
Streets
Paths....gravel and paved
A few trails
Grocery store .....backpack or small basket size loads
Slightly hilly
Minimum range....25 miles
Removable battery desired
Mid drive <hahahayouafunnyguy($)
NOT 'fat tire'
Probably not a folder
Reasonable manual drivetrain (for when SWMBO takes away battery)
Payload (ME) 6" / 190 lbs
Class 3 desired but.....
$1900 limit
I'm mechanically adept BUT want to be close to electronics repair for whatever bike I get.

I won't chime in on a particular ebike brand or model since I don't own an ebike; and I have ridden only short distances on them.

If you are riding 50% (give or take) or more on the paved surfaces. I will say that you may want to find a bike that already comes equipped with a decent dual purpose (cyclocross, hybrid, etc.) style tire since they will provide greater speed, efficiency (greater range, reduced battery consumption), and wet conditions performance on the pavement while able to provide good stability in softer and rougher terrains; these are not "fat tire" tires. I use a KendaKross model on an old mtb, but I'm sure there are plenty of styles out there from other brands.

The specific tire I use acts like a 28mm on the pavement; fast and surefooted, but still with a cushy feel (my tires rated 45 to 70 psi). Off-road they absorb trail shock well, and provide the stable ride of a much wider (40-45mm or so) gravel style tire while still providing fast speed on firm packed surfaces.

If the bike you get doesn't have the tires that you require to cover the terrains you expect to ride on then be prepared to spend a of minimum $75 or more for a pair of quality tires unless a bike shop or online dealer is willing to swap tires for something you want without charging you more, or for a minimal cost.
