Could someone help me out? I recently purchased a new single speed bike sprocket. I put it on my bike and I had to make the chain smaller. Anyways I got everything put together and its as if the bike doesn't have enough tension when you pedal. like when you pedal it feels like the chain isn't even on. the cranks spin almost to freely.

Welcome to the forum warner! Are you certain it's a single speed? Almost get the impression it's a 3 speed in 1st gear? Or is it not moving you with your pedaling?

Without more information and/or photos it makes it difficult to say. If you changed the front sprocket to a smaller size (necessitating the chain shortening) you will find the bike easier to pedal; possibly much easier if you made a substantial gear ratio change. Was it a front or rear gear? Were you changing the gear due to performance needs, or because of wear/damage?
