the chain is not routed correctly.

It helps greatly to tell us what happened PRIOR to a problem occurring, and to not make us dependent on just a pic, BUT it appears the derailleur was allowed to rotate counterclockwise so as to release tension on the spring, likely when the wheel was removed.

And look at the chain path around the formerly lower pulley - it had to get a lot of effort to get it in there - the cage is probably toast, and the pulleys way out of alignment with each other. There is a good chance the tensioning spring is shot.

Given that a new RD is less than $15-; I would replace it.

Good eye Nigel, I had o look twice, but yes chain is running under the cog and not around it. Now how did that happen Enasty?

Could someone help me out? I recently purchased a new single speed bike sprocket. I put it on my bike and I had to make the chain smaller. Anyways I got everything put together and its as if the bike doesn't have enough tension when you pedal. like when you pedal it feels like the chain isn't even on. the cranks spin almost to freely.
