Urich old tire repair tool
#1
Here is an old Urich repair tool; patent date 1919. I picked it up merely as an oddity and had to research as to how it functioned. Essentially similar to the plug repair kit tools used for auto tires nowadays.
Made for natural rubber tires, and using rubber bands with a vulcanizing agent. I assume it would still work with newer tires using the proper plug material and glue. I doubt it would be useful for any type of high pressure tire, but maybe for 60psi tires and below it might be feasible. You'd still need to patch up the tube though. Not sure if tubeless tires could be fixed with it. It would certainly help keep debris and grit from entering and damaging the tube.

Put rubber band(s) through the slot and hook them on the lever; push lever to hold band(s); insert into tire puncture hole; release lever and unhook band(s); remove from tire.

Soak it in Evaporust to bring it down to the bare metal.

Neat looking tool. Today's tire plug kit tools are less elaborate, and function in the same way. Sometimes there is only one way to get the job done.

That is very cool. I would be stoked to find one of those. Still the most reliable cost-effective way to get back on the road with a puncture.

When researching it I saw a couple on ebay. A little more than what I paid, but the very same item. I think they were selling for $15-$20 (plus shipping).
