What to do about scratched carbon fork?
#1
Hello, cycling lovers!

A couple of days ago I had a lesson of riding in a group, which ended with crashed bike =) Fell to the side, so the main impact was absorbed by my shoulder and hand, so I believe no major damage was caused by this crash except some paint removal.

So I'm thinking about what to do with stripped carbon on the front fork - to me it seems that only paint is damaged and I'm thinking about either covering it with paint first, and then apply some clear coat (but color matching could be hard), or to simply do clear coat and forget about it.

Your thoughts?

Hi Vadim,

Glad you are okay.

If just an aesthetics issue, I regularly touch-up bikes with finger nail polish. It is usually easy to find a matching color (or nearly), and very low cost ($1-$4) for a bottle that you will be able to use for years to come should you lose more paint.

Hello @Vadim !
We received a reply from our member Ian via Facebook post:

"Go to office works and get any liquid white-out pen in the colour you want, or try similar nail polish with the microbrush and dab or paint it on. The liquid in both those is not thin and should stay in place if you don’t overloaded it."
