Trek 2300 Vs Triban RC500 (Buy advice)
#1
Hi guys, I relatively new to the cycling world. I currently use my Whyte Stirling 2012 (R7 Serries)
I'm searching for a road bike to use for touring or sports stuff. So, which is one that you guys would suggest? Is that good old bike or average new bike?

Trek 2300 ZR9000 (2005)
-Shimano Ultegra Groupset (I guess all the component are Ultegra, 3x10 gear but I'm not sure)
-Bontrager components
-Drop handlebar
-Rim Brakes (I don't know the type and the brand)

Triban RC500 (Decathlon Bikes & one-year-old bike)
-Shimano Sora R3000 Groupset (2x9 I guess, I'm not sure)
-Drop handlebar
-Promax DSK-300R disc brakes

I don't know which one is better, but from the picture they give me, it's a decent bike (no over rusty in some components) assume both those two bikes are in good shape.

I ride a Trek 2100 ZR9000 and really enjoy the newer Sora 3000 9 speed drivetrain, but I did upgrade the brakes to the newer ultegra units. This was a major brake upgrade of both the Sora 3000 units and much older 6500 ultegra that were on the bicycle when purchased used.

I do not know this brand, model (triban-rc-500), but disc brakes are a nice touch, wheels are on the heaver side but a future upgrade if you enjoy this road bike. The reviewer gave this a thumbs up https://road.cc/content/review/decathlon-triban-rc-500-disc-road-bike-259930
