Tokyo Olympics are also postponed. I'd never imagine this (OG postponed) happening with all the money, preparation involved.

velonews writes that Deceuninck are considering to ask Quick-Step for compensation because of the lost exposure ... these days everyone has to adapt -> to cut costs and find new ways of providing exposure for sponsors

I hope that Tour de France will take place, it's the main event and bread winner for so many teams.

I just want to say thank you to all posting here and keeping me informed. I never read anything about road racing, and hardly get to watch anything, what with living in my "hobbit" hole (no cable, satellite, or internet!!). Yes, I hope we do get some events run in the near future for everyone's sake.

Please be safe if you must venture out. I have, as a health care worker, just this week been potentially exposed by a co-worker who tested positive. I am feeling okay after 6 days from the incident. Unfortunately, I can not get tested unless I show symptoms. Please mask up and glove up in public; do not go out unless necessary. I appreciate all who are hanging in there and using their heads during our national/global crisis. Thank your healthcare workers and responders; it matters more than you may think.

Take care,
Jesper

While it is hard to comprehend that we are missing out on Giro, Spring classics and other races this year, it is also a moment to look back at what has happened in professional cycling in the recent years. Yesterday, April 12th should have been the day of Paris - Roubaix. I kept thinking about the 2016 edition and how it was one by the Aussie underdog Mat Hayman. Incredible stoy, here is a video for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zxnA4asj44

On evenings @ 6pm, we join together in our communities - on balconies, open windows, inner yards - and applaud our healthcare workers. This symbol of appreciation is also addressed towards you, thank you.

Thank you my friend for the appreciation. I've been a little depressed due to the situation. I can not access some of my parts/frames for building due to travel restrictions, and I have not been riding for a month, primarily due to being too beat after working, and contemplating the next day's toils. I live away from the general population, so there is no excuse, and I only group ride in events about twice a year now. Just need to get it together and do my normal rides and crush my negativity away.
Thanks also for the video link, I'll definitely check it out. One good thing if they run the TDF ; it should be well covered stateside since there won't be any competing sporting events to displace it. I might just take a day off (if possible) to better enjoy a complete stage with some climbing in it. I usually only see the ends of stages because I do not get off work early enough given 5 hr time lag.

Take care and be safe,
Jesper

Getting on the bike has often helped me in the past, when I've dealt with stress or negativity. Short night rides just to get some air and absorb city lights. Ride out, stop for a moment and look around to see how darkness intertwines with illuminated signs and street lights. Calms me down every single time.

Unfortunately, TdF will be postponed: https://www.velonews.com/news/tour-de-france-faces-postponement-as-french-ban-public-gatherings-through-mid-july/

"French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday announced the suspension of all mass public gatherings until mid-July to curb the spread of COVID-19.
... For weeks the race had yet to be officially postponed or canceled, and now it appears almost impossible for it to begin as originally planned on June 27 in Nice."

While we are waiting for the season to re-start, can I interest anyone in Miguel Indurain's Pinarello Banesto 1994? The last Tour de France winning steel frame.

One of his four identical bicycles, ridden during the tour.
Still in the original condition, just as Indurain had finished his 94 season on it.

Spanish media AS published (leaked) calendar for the rest of the cycling season. It's not confirmed, though. I suppose there's no need for translations. All three grand tours are scheduled to happen within 7 weeks. Season should restart on the first week of August, with Strade Bianche. What's your view?

Let's where this goes ... only a handful of teams can afford Froome.

Meanwhile, an update on Kittel. He's become a father and enrolled in studies for a degree in Economics.
