alternate size tire for a 700 x 44c
#1
Son got a good deal on an Alton brand Electric road bike here in Korea. Rear tire has popped multiple times in the few weeks he has had it. After replacing four tubes and not finding anything but dings and scrapes on the rim, I am looking to try out a replacement tire. Problem I am running into is that the tire size is 44 x 622 / 700 x 42c, all of which it turns out is a rare size. Is there a suitable size tire that is more standard/available?

Appreciate any help or guidance.

Hi, I would advise you to first measure the rim's inner width (B from the image below), and then we can discuss what tire is the most suitable Smile If you need help measuring, ask me here.

My initial guess would be Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x38. Durable, top protection and e-bike ready.

Strange, those sizes are pretty standard here... Anyway, I would probably go up a size instead of down (if the rim can accommodate it, see G_M's post). They result in a more comfortable ride, with (as tested) not much increase in rolling resistance - though that depends on the materials used in the tyre.
