Need to press twice to get to lower clog
#1
I followed the instructions in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfBiXgf8JxI
but I still have the same problem on a Shimano Sora race bike.

With the front derailleur, when I want to switch down from a larger clog to a smaller one, I always have to press the shifter twice: the first time moves the derailleur just a little bit and the second time does the job.

Any hint?

I found that setting the low setting with the cable slacked worked the best for my SORA derailleur. Once that's set pull the cable snug with your hands. Don't use pliers to pull it super tight... just your hands. Then you can tighten the cable at the derailleur. Shift up to the highest gear and then make your adjustments there. If you can't adjust the High setting exactly, use the barrel adjusters. Make sure to double check cable tension via the barrel adjustments at the shifters and if there are any at the cable spans on the downtube. Like in the video... if the cable is too tight, it will pull on the derailleur and shifting will take extra effort.

Most likely, the cable is slightly too slack.

Note also though, some shifters have a small "trim adjustment" click that is there to let you move it slightly to stop chain rub without shifting the gear. Sometimes you have to push through that trim adjustment to get to the "real" click that shifts the gear. But this varies by brand/model.
