I searched Google for a frame number database, but apparently nothing is centralized.
Are there specific patterns depending on brands that would allow to know the brand of a bike based on its frame number (at least the frame maker)?
Thanks

No.

Some pictures and more information would help us help you.  For example:
* type of bike.
* frame material.
* frame construction method (only really applicable for steel).

Some frames are identifiable from across the room ('85 - '87 Schwinn Cimarron for example); others are not identifiable after microscopic study.
