Upgrading to Disc Brakes
#1
I own an 05 Marin Hawk Hill mtb which is disc brake ready, but according to the specs currently has "linear pull" brakes. I'd like to upgrade to a set of Avid BB7's, and was wondering if I could do this installation myself. Is there a how to somewhere? How easy would it be to do this? How do I do it? Thanks!

I'll be doing a video on this procedure as soon as I get the parts. In the meantime I found this video which may have some useful tips:

Thanks for that video Alex. It doesn't go into too much detail, but it did show me that installing disc brakes should be a fairly easy process. I ordered a set of Avid BB7's(160mm front and rear), Avid Speed Dial Levers, Flak Jacket Brake Cables, and a Sun Rhynolite Wheelset with Shimano Deore hubs. This should be all the parts I need for upgrading my bike(the frame is disc ready) right? What tools will I specifically need for this installation? Can't wait till you put up the video of you installing discs....I really like how you teach people. You take it step by step. Thanks again!
