Help Please: RED Yaw FD Adjustment
#1
Hi, all-

I recently purchased a new 2013 BMC Race Machine with a full Red grupo. Despite everything I had read about the Red Yaw FD and its ability to handle the entire gear range without trimming, I experienced chain rub. So, I decided I would simply take the time to learn how to adjust the FD myself.

I made several mistakes, and I would love any and all assistance:

1. I neglected to tighten the inner limit screw so that the FD was over the big ring, prior to releasing the cable. My understanding is that, having done this, it will be very difficult for me to get the FD back to the "factory" setting. Any thoughts on how to revert to the factory setting?

2. The BMC has a braze-on FD mount. BMC spec'd the Red grupo for this bike, and I have seen many BMCs with the Red grupo. What's weird about my bike, is that even with the FD mount lowered all the way to the bottom of the braze-on FD mount, the FD is still much more than the recommended 1-2 mm above the tallest tooth of the biog chainring. My question here is, is there something in the setup of the Red Yaw FD that would set it high, and make it seem as though the braze-on mount was simply higher than it should be? And, if so, is there someway I can revert to the original default setting, so that I can set the FD the recommended 1-2 mm above the ring?

Many, many thanks for your help- it is much appreciated!

Regards,

Jeff
