Rear wheel hub service problem
#1
I took apart the hub/axel/cones/bearings etc... on an old cheap mountain bike wheel , cleaned , re-greaced the bearings/cones with lithium greace and re-assembled ; It all worked ok on the bike however , the bike is making a small creaking noise when im riding ( more noticeable when going slowly and sounds like its comming from the back wheel ) It doesn't make the noise when spinning the wheel with no rider and i have checked for possible causes but can't see anything ( It's not the seat post ) . Please can anyone suggest a cause/help ? Im thinking the bearings need replacing ?

Are your sure you got all the bearings back in? Happens sometimes.. one drops off
during reassembly.

Could be slightly over-tightened too. Lots of possibles.........

creaking - more likely slightly under-tightened than over.

Q/R or bolt on rear wheel ?

I would remove the wheel, inspect it closely, then re-install.

Also double check the tire for any defects.
