Problem at the bottom bracket
#1
Hi Guys,

So I had a fall the other week, and my bottom bracket isn't properly orientated any more (See picture), I was thinking that the force of the impact caused the issue and maybe it just requires another short sharp shock to orientate i again, I have given it a firm push to try and correct it, but I really want a second opinion before I start deliberately bashing my bike.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you need a new BB.

This is not repairable with normal tools, and even with specialized tools, it would have to be removed from the bike to even attempt. A person with the skills and tools to repair, if they were in business, and not doing things as a hobby, would have to charge you over $200- to repair it, with no guarantees. A bike shop does not have this sort of equipment.

You also need to make sure that your frame is not damaged. If it is aluminum, it is likely cracked, and should be scrapped.

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to reply.

I figured this would be the worst case scenario, but it's nice to have it confirmed by somebody else. It's a chromoly frame and I have checked the frame and it appears to in good condition, just small cosmetic damages.

Thanks again.
