Looking for a better bearing
#1
Does anyone know of a better bearing for the rear axle of a 3 wheel bike.
The bearings keep going bad and ruining the axle. We have used the standard bearings from the bike shop. This is an older Miami Sun. It has 2 axles with 2 bearings (sealed??) each. Clean riding area. Last replaced 2 months ago. Any suggestions appreciated.

Wow! I've never heard of that, except when a guy here asked about ceramic bearings, to "reduce weight." Smile

Maybe you're getting Chinese bearings.

HMMM...... Are the bearings greased, on sealed bearings you can pry an edge of rubber seal off and using a needle tip on a grease gun grease it. Would not surprise me if they were not properly greased at the factory. Make sure when installed that its tight fit just without play. Not too tight.

You can take a bearing to a bearing supply place and see if they have good quality ones in that size. Bearings will usually have sizes stamped on them.

Thanks for the replys. You were right about the bearings from China.I took bearings to bearing shop and got much better. Old ones were $1.50 and new are $6.50 They are from General bearing in case anyone needs to know they are were available at local bearing shop (not bike store).
