I have a yokota Merced that i really don't know much about. I was wondering if someone could tell me when its from and how much its approximately worth

At a guess, I'd say early 90s. I don't know anything about the yokota brand, but looking at the components I'd say that it wasn't a particularly expensive bike when new. It's in nice clean condition and with a service, new chain and possibly new brake and gear cables it would make a decent, practical run-about.

I bought something similar a couple of years ago in about the same condition, although a bit dirty, and I paid £30.00 ~ $50.00 for it, which was a good price, so you may be able to get a bit more for it.

Sean;

It depends where you are located. In the SF Bay Area, the asking price on CL would be around $200- and the transaction price closer to $125-; based on your picture.

Take a look at:

From the first post, the Merced has hi-ten steel frame, on that basis it is not very desirable - cro-mo is preferred, with double butted cro-mo or 531 being the premium steel frame materials.

Cro-mo plain guage tubing would add $50 to $100- to the transaction price, and double butted another $100- on top - again based on the picture, and in the SF Bay Area - which is a high priced area for bikes. Go less than a 100 miles to Watsonville, and the prices drop dramatically.
