Mongoose Conway 625 handlebar replacement
#1
I wish to replace my stock handle bar which is of the upward bend variety with a flat type handle bar. Is there any need for me to change the original handle bar stem ? Thanks.

As long as the "clamp diameter" of the new bar is the same, you can use the old stem. This is the size of the bar where the stem clamp goes around it. These are pretty standard for upright (as opposed to drop, racing type bars). I can't find a picture of the bike, but I think it was a pretty standard cross bike, so almost any regular straight bar will work unless what you have now is unusual.
