8, 9 & 10 speed cassettes all fit the same freehubs. and with a spacer a 7 speed cassette will fit too.

one cone wrench and one regular wrench (both metric) are all that are needed to adjust the crank bearings. I have a set of thin metric wrenches from Amazon, they were less than $20, plus a large set of comb metric from HF that were pretty inexpensive; and a set of Avenir cone wrenches - between the three sets; I have been able to handle the bearings on my bikes.

The FFS was not common when they were produced in the late '70s early '80s ; long forgotten by most now.

okay thanks for the info.
Do you know which is the exact size for the inside cone? I don't want to buy the whole set, i hardly use cone wrenches just a 14 and 15 when i overhaul my wheelsets.
i tried a 19 but it was a bit small, i figured it would be around a 22 or 21.
They are about 8 bucks for a single.

I could tell! 7 biekshops and non of them were able to figure it out!
I tried explaining it to them that it was a simple cone mechanism just like a hub but they wouldn't take it! In my mind i was like dammit just let me borrow your tools and ill do it!
LOL.

a very good purchase is a 6" digital caliper from HF, often on sale for $15 or less - perfect for measuring things like size of wrench required, thickness of cogs etc.

sorry, I am currently in China, bike is in San Jose.

Since im in a tight budget right now, ive decided to do a quick upgrade without spending much cash.
I really want to get rid of the FFS, one because its a pain in the ass to adjust it since i dont have the right tools, and no bikeshops around here could take on it. I decided to stay at 5 speeds for right now (upgrade in the future). Assuming the rear wheel has standard threads to be able to install a freewheel ,such as this :http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunrace-Mountain-Bike-Cassette-Freewheel-5-Speed-14-28-Teeth-/271068682301?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1cf3d83d. this way i can keep the RD ,chain and shifters. I'm still looking for a single speed crankset or possibly a double so in the future i can add a FD and shifter.
I want to buy a crankset like this one ->> http://www.flickr.com/photos/7220500@N07/3568934317/sizes/l/in/photostream/
Looks new but at the same time it keeps the vintage look on it.
Any recommendations ?

I would also need this tool http://www.ebay.com/itm/330797869826?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648
To remove the fixed cassette and the bb cups right? Same tool for both?

The tool removes both the rear cogs and the bb cups.

The rear hub does have standard threading which will accept standard freewheels.

I like the Sunrace freewheels.

Dudes! Today, I heard about this really cool Government-sponsored private-industry conglomeration that calls themselves the United States Postal Service and they have ponies and riders that they sometimes send westward. Pony Express, I think? Maybe they could hook you guys up for $5 or so? Wink LOL
