Schwinn S-25 rear wheel Sprockets
#1
well i Just bought my Schwinn about 3 weeks ago to bike to work and then last week as i was biking home i tried to shift gears and the bike seemed to have trouble catching. It would catch the release . well i inspected the rear wheel saturday and noticed some of the sprockets were able to spin freely is there a way to repair that or am i gonna need to replace the rear wheel?

from the picture - not the right angle to tell for sure - it looks like the freewheel is coming apart; I have never seen that before......

probably just replacing the freewheel will take care of it.

Here is one that will probably fit: http://www.amazon.com/Freewheel-Speed-Sun-Race-14-28G/dp/B001AYKN0M/

you'll also need a FR-1C (Shimano, splined) type freewheel tool like this:

then I'd go with this one:
http://www.amazon.com/SunRace-Sunrace-7-Speed-13-28-Freewheel/dp/B003LHMJRQ/
I put this one on a hybrid with a 28-38-48 crank set. Works great. I have had better luck with Sunrace freewheels than Shimano. On my commuter I have a 13-25 Sunrace from an eBay vendor.

Well, if the number of sprockets and the shifters don't match expect some bad shifting... where did you get the bike from?

I can tell you that the wheel is the correct one because quando hubs do come with schwinn bikes Smile .
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!
