Repeated Punctures
#1
Hey guys, wanted to ask some advice. Got a puncture the other night and fixed it myself - or at least I thought I had until the next morning it was flat again. Put this down to poor repairmanship and bought a new inner tube. Had one ride with new tube before discovering another puncture in exactly the same place on the new tube as on the old. Both punctures are tiny, as if made with a fine needle.

I assumed this would be down to something sharp being caught in the tyre itself, so I took it off and have checked and re-checked the tyre but can't find anything. Is there something I'm missing here?

ive had this problem before, run round the inside if the tyre with some sand paper(just fine grit).
also make sure your rim tape is all in the right place and covering the spoke ends
ride until your wheels fall off

Thanks, I'll do that. Just apprehensive about it happening again.

Or man-up and use your fingertips to feel for big thorns. That's how I find them. Wink Ouch.

Yeah see that's what I had been doing but found nothing, that's why it's such a mystery.

I had this BMX tire that had a small strand of shifter cable that was stuck in the tire itself. Yup my fault for not seeing it on the floor of the shop! It took me about 15mins to find its very small extrusion on the inside of the tire. How I found it was by taking a piece of paper towel and rubbing it on the inside of the tire and when it ripped I started looking in that spot. Looked closely with a flashlight and boom there it was. Pulled it out with a pair of needle nose pliers and was all better.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

It could be a spoke sticking through the rim tape...

Is there a puncture in the outside of the tire in the same spot the tube keeps getting punctured?
