BB question... Shimano LP-28, square taper, 68x110
#1
I have a 2002 Specialized Hardrock Comp A1 bike.

I am looking for the bottom bracket tool and replacement sealed cartridge bearing for this bike.

The bottom bracket I have is a shimano LP-28, square taper, 68x110. I see cartridges that reference the 68x110, but I don't see the LP-28 number. What is the LP-28? I can find BB UN25 and BB UN54 online. Are these newer version and will they fit?

LP-28 is a catalogue number for the specific BB you have:

http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-BB-LP28-Alivio-Bottom-Bracket/dp/B000R3CBKW
http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/BB/EV-BB-LP28-2033_v1_m56577569830608719.pdf

The UN series will fit, as will many others.

I have one of these:

and there are many others:

You'll also need a crank puller, like this one:
