Nightmare 1st Time Brake Bleed
#1
Hey guys, yep, as the title suggests I totally screwed up my first attempt at hydraulic disc brake bleeding on my Magura Louise 2007 brakes! Once both syringes had mineral oil in them I wasn't sure how to remove them without the oil spilling out. I got it wrong and ended up losing a lot of my oil from the system. Now it's all back together again there's virtually no power in the front brake due to lack of mineral oil! I'm going to go through the process again tomorrow to try to sort it out, so wish me luck fellas! Why must we make such dreadful mistakes to be able to learn eh??!!! Si

The easiest way I have found to bleed the brakes is to flush the system through first this gets rid of any muck in the tube and caliper, flush it both ways from top to bottom then bottom to top. once you've done that slacken the bleed nipple on the caliper and gently fill the reservoir. replace the lid on the reservoir and pull the brake lever once brake fluid shoild exit the bleed nipple. put an elastic band round the lever and tighten the bleed nipple then release the lever. make sure nipple and reservoir lid are tight this should cure the problem.

Hiya mate

Thanks for the advice.

When you say 'flush the system', what am I flushing it with? You mean just with clean mineral oil?

I'll try what you said. No garauntees I'll be able to get it right though!!

Cheers

Si
